With Help Comes Hope
Muslim Association for Psychological Services (MAPS)
is a social enterprise founded by three distinct counselors with the purpose of bridging the gap between mental health needs in the Muslim community and access to Muslim licensed counselors in the DFW community. MAPS also serves to support local community organizations in their cultural competency while providing Muslim counselors with peer support and professional development through education, training and awareness.
Our Mission
To support and guide the Muslim community by actively promoting mental health awareness, education, resources and access to services.
How to use this website:
MAPS is not a group practice, but a social enterprise of independently practicing licensed Muslim clinicians divided into chapters around the world. This resource is for you to find a local Muslim therapist in your area who best fits your needs, including marriage counseling, individual therapy, group therapy, pre-marital counseling, or even as a speaker or teacher to serve as a community resource.
To find a therapist:
Click “Find A Therapist” on the top menu bar.
Click the chapter in your locality/city/region.
If there isn’t one, you can click a chapter within your state and find telehealth options.
Scroll through the options to find a therapist that is most accessible to you by distance, payment plan, and specialty.
Want to join a local MAPS chapter?
We have four chapters currently in operation and would love for you - a licensed Muslim clinician - to be a part of it. Fill out the form below to be added to our directory and to join your local MAPS group.
Want to create your own MAPS chapter?
We are growing quickly and have been opening up chapters both nationally and internationally. If you would like to form your own chapter, contact us!
Testimonials
“Dear MAPS . . . Thank you for the wonderful service you are providing to the community. Mental health makes us or breaks us, and you are making sure that you are helping all of us who need it in the best, most professional manner possible.”
— Dr. Hind Jarrah
“I strongly recommend everyone to support MAPS as much as you can. They’re doing amazing work and are actually filling a void in our community.”
— Imam Nadim Bashir

“After finishing my Master’s program in Counseling . . . I was lucky to have connected with MAPS and the wonderful initiative they have to be a platform for Muslim mental health providers. As a Muslim South Asian provider myself, I have seen firsthand the disparities and lack of accessible resources within our community . . . MAPS not only gave me a sense of community within my career and identity, but has also given me the opportunity to explore ways to break down the cultural taboos and connect with Muslim and POC demographics to offer culturally competent mental health counseling. Without MAPS, I would feel like a small fish in a large pond.”
